about
Clare of Assisi, born Chiara Offreduccio, was one of the first followers of Francis of Assisi, and formed her own monastic order called The Order of the Poor Ladies, based on the Franciscan tradition. The focus of her order was communal decision, discernment and inspiration, not deprivation. The lyrics here are inspired by a letter she wrote to Agnes of Prague where she said, "Christ is the Mirror; gaze on that mirror and see your face within." Like Francis, Clare saw the Holy in all things.
lyrics
Christ is the Mirror, Christ is the Light.
Gaze on that Mirror and see yourself within.
All things are holy, all things are one.
Gaze on creation and see your soul within.
Always be a lover of your soul.
Always be a lover of your soul.
Here in this Sanctuary of Life,
here is the love and food for your soul.
Enter this dwelling, bring who you are.
Gaze on this table and know the source within.
We become the love that we receive.
We become the love that we receive.
Christ is the Mirror, Christ is the Light.
Gaze on that Mirror and see yourself within.
All here is sacred, all here is one.
Gaze on your neighbor and know the love within.
One with one another, one with Christ.
One with one another, one with Christ.
